I can never find one on the beach, but my amigo came up with one nearly the size of a mayonaise jar lid. also saw that Seashell had several in the same size range. and hey, Nate, cool find on the tiny horseshoe crab...

The sanddollars are buried in the sand on the bars this time of year, that is where Nathan found most of his this trip.

my big sand dollar I found in Nov is looking pretty good. soaked it in a little bleach and water and it seems to be drying nicely. slightly fishy smell if you sniff it close, but there just isnt enough strong sunlight to bleach it naturally. it's 3in. dia. its still a little fuzzy, tho.

I paddled out and pulled up a weight one time and pulled up a sand dollar that the copper legs on the weight slipped through the little breather hole. Put him in a bait bucket and dropped into the aquarium when I got home. At the time I didn't have any sand at the bottom but he still lasted about 3 months in there. If I'd have had sand he might have gone a lot longer.
